Ghanim was a young merchant of Damascus. He loaded goods to trade and set out with a company bound for Baghdad. On the day they reached Baghdad he was slower off the mark than the rest.
Arriving after the gates had shut, he could not get inside. Outside the walls there was a burial ground with a wall of its own. He decided to pass the night there and settled inside it.
In the middle of the night three people came in carrying something. They dug, put it in the ground and hurried out. Ghanim watched the whole of it from behind a tree.
