A vizier of one country had a daughter. Her name was al-Ward, which means the rose still in the bud. A young man called Uns al-Wujud served in the same court.
The two of them saw each other on the day of a feast. After that day a few letters passed between them by way of other hands. Face to face they had been for that one day, and that was about all.
Hearing about the letters, the vizier moved at once. He took his daughter away, and told the king something else. Where he took her was an island nobody could name.
