The sultan of Basra called in his vizier al-Fadl and gave him a task. He was to go to the market where people are sold and buy the best there was. He was not to spare the money.
The person the vizier found was priced at ten thousand dinars. Her name was Anis al-Jalis. Before delivering her he had her rest some days at his own house.
The vizier’s son, Nur al-Din, lived in that house. In the course of those few days the two of them saw each other. Three people so far knew that someone worth ten thousand dinars was inside.
