There are no people in this night’s story. The ones speaking are a fox and a wolf and a hedgehog and some birds. Inside the Arabian Nights there is a whole set of these.
The fox and the wolf shared a den. The wolf had the strength and the fox had the cunning. So the one who picked first from whatever came in was always the wolf.
The fox tried several times to change that order with words. It did not take long to learn that words were not going to do it. After that the fox began looking at other things.
