Olives in a Jar

In Baghdad there was a merchant named Ali Khoja. Deciding on a long journey, he thinks about what to do with the gold he has. It was a road that would keep his house empty a long time.

He put the gold into a large jar and covered it over with olives. Then he leaves the jar with a merchant who lived nearby. He was leaving one jar of olives, he said.

The man who took it told him not to worry. He would keep it in his storeroom and not lay a hand on it. Ali Khoja believed him and set out.
