After the feast Romeo did not go back with his friends. He turned on the road and climbed the wall of the Capulet house. It was a night on which being found there would cost him his life.
Benvolio and Mercutio called his name in the dark. Mercutio brought Rosaline into it and mocked him at length. Romeo stayed hidden inside the wall and answered nothing. The two of them decided he had gone home ahead and left.
In the orchard there were trees and darkness and nothing else. Then a light came into an upper window and somebody stepped out. It was Juliet.
