Four springs ran on the island of Ogygia. Vines covered the mouth of the cave, and it was the most beautiful place in the world.
There was a man held there in his seventh year. Every day he went out and sat on a rock by the shore, and wept, looking across the water.
He had no ship to leave in and nobody to leave with. The nymph Calypso would not let him go, so at night he had to go back to the cave.
