Sanzang and Wukong turned south along the road. After several days a deep ravine opened in front of them, so clear that the stones on the bottom showed.
Sanzang got down and stood at the edge. Wukong had set the baggage down and was retying a strap, and it took only that long.
The water broke open and something shot up, and the horse was gone, all of it. Only the saddle lay on the bank.
