New Lamps for Old

The man in the far country had taken it that Aladdin was dead. He had closed the slab himself, so it was a fair thing to think. Some years on he learns that it is not so.

Aladdin was alive and living in a palace. Which meant the lamp was in that house. He packed and set out for that city.

Once there he finds out that Aladdin has gone hunting and will be away for days. He bought a basket full of cheap lamps. Then he starts working the lanes around the palace.
