On the day Caesar dies, people gather in the forum. They were faces that wanted to know what had happened. Brutus goes up in front of them first.
He speaks calmly. He loved Caesar no less, he says, but he loved Rome more. If Caesar had been king, they would all have been slaves.
The people nod along. Then they shout that Brutus should be put in Caesar’s place. That is the first thing they say after hearing that there should be no such place.
