The army from France loses. Lear and Cordelia are taken together. They had been long apart, and met again at the head of this war.
As they are led away, Cordelia says they should see her sisters. Lear says no. He talks about something else.
The two of them will be caged and sing like birds, he says. They will hear who is winning and losing and laugh at it. There is no kingdom and no crown anywhere in it.
