Off to one side of the night sky small stars were bunched together. They were not like the other stars, which sit apart from each other, but were stuck close and moved as one.
Behind them a large constellation came up, a hunter with three stars in a row round his waist. All night the distance between them neither closed nor widened.
People looked at that and made a story of it, in which somebody chasing and somebody being chased had moved up into the sky. It was a chase in which nobody is ever caught.
