A white cow stood by the river, its coat white as snow and its horns curved like a half moon. People said they had never seen so lovely a cow.
The cow caught its face in the water and backed away. It could not believe that what was in the water was its own face.
It opened its mouth to speak and a low cry came out. The cow startled itself with its own sound and backed away again.
