On the day the chest was opened the caliph gave Jafar three days. Inside them he was to bring in whoever had killed that woman. If he did not, Jafar would pay in her place.
In the last chapter we heard why she died. This one looks at the same days from another position. The side of the man told to go and find him.
Over those three days Jafar got almost nothing done. Baghdad was large and all he had was one chest. He sat at home and watched the days go past.
